About the Wine

“Ribera del Duero is like Rioja’s younger brother, but one that grew up to be bigger and brawnier than its sibling.” Wine Spectator.

Ribera del Duero is a paradise for wine lovers. Within this wine region, you’ll find some of the most unique, exceptional, south-after examples of Spanish wines.

Valderiz is a family-owned and operated winery that is fueled by a deep-rooted love for the land that spans over three decades. The family's bond and love for the land translate into remarkable high-quality wines that pay homage to the beautiful terroir in Ribera del Duero.

Owners Inmaculada Cristóbal and Tomás Esteban, work hand in hand with their sons Juan (vineyard expert), Ricardo (star winemaking), and Esther (the leader of the quality department.)

The vineyards are nestled in the enchanting village of Roa, the heart of the recognized Ribera del Duero appellation. Initially, the Esteban Cristóbal family cultivated grapes for other wineries. However, in 1997, recognizing the exceptional quality of their land, they decided to embark on their own winemaking journey, and so This marked Bodegas Valderiz was born. Today, Valderiz boasts over 246 acres of vineyards that are managed with sustainable, organic, and biodynamic agriculture.

The vineyard consists of 45 small parcels, located in the diverse soils of Roa de Duero, featuring a rich blend of pebbles, clay, and limestone. The result is an elegant, powerful, and deep wine that will enchant you from the very first sip!
