Passion and expertise are the main words to describe Domaine Capuano-Ferreri, a small, under the radar producer.
Their estate was established in 1987. Initially, it managed parcels of vines in Santenay and Chassagne Montrachet, spanning an area of 4 hectares. Today, it encompasses 8 hectares of vines, primarily situated in the Côte de Beaune.
At Capuano-Ferreri, every step of the winemaking process is executed with utmost care and precision. Owner and winemaker John Capuano, ensures that the vineyards flourish, producing grapes of exceptional quality. The cellar is a work of art that encapsulates centuries-old winemaking traditions, a place where time stands still as wines mature to perfection.
2022 is looking to be a great year in Burgundy. Decanter said, "Despite the (very) hot and dry season, 2022 wasn’t a typical année solaire, according to the verdicts of Burgundy’s winemakers, with quality and quantity to be found, many early-drinking options, but reds to lay down, too. Overall quality is very high for red wines. There is more concentration in 2022… even if you try to make wine for the future, they are showing quite well right now."
Aging: 12 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: 100% Pinot Noir. This exquisite wine showcases aromas of ripe red berries, delicate spices, and subtle earthy undertones. On the palate, it reveals silky tannins and a harmonious balance of luscious red fruit flavors, accompanied by hints of blackcurrant and cranberry. With its finesse, complexity, and lingering finish, this wine captures the essence of Santenay's terroir.
