Nestled atop a hill where the cool breezes of the San Francisco Bay meet Napa and Sonoma counties, sits Ram's Gate Winery. Imagine yourself surrounded by rolling vineyards, with the warm Sonoma hills as your backdrop. That's the magic of Ram's Gate Winery. With vineyards spanning three of Sonoma's finest AVAs, every sip takes you on a journey through California wine country.

In 2011, Ram's Gate Winery began crafting more than just wine; they created lasting memories. With a keen eye for design, a commitment to excellence, and a knack for the extraordinary, Ram's Gate quickly became a favorite among wine lovers.

Leading this wine adventure is General Manager and Winemaker Joe Nielsen, known for his work at Donelan Family Wines where he crafted over 40 wines scoring 94+ points. From his early beginnings in Michigan to his successes in Sonoma, Joe's passion for winemaking shines through in every bottle. Today, with his expert guidance, Ram's Gate Winery is thriving.

The 2019 Ram's Gate Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a true reflection of its terroir. With grapes sourced from Sonoma Coast, Russian River Valley, and Petaluma Gap, it's an elegant and luxurious expression of California winemaking.

Aging: 11 months, 28% new French oak

Tasting Notes: 100% Pinot Noir. The wine opens with foraged fruits: raspberry, and blackberry with complements of cherry and earthy umami characters. Fermented in small open-top fermenters with varying small amounts of whole-cluster, the mouthfeel has a balanced palate of freshness, cradling tannin and well-placed weight. Red fruits on the palate play toward an uplifting, enjoyable finish. A great introduction to our Pinot Noir portfolio, this wine is delicious and a great companion for your favorite meals and festivities.

Reviews

The 2019 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast should be a smoking value and would be a great introduction for readers looking to understand the style of the Pinot Noir here as well as the quality. Black cherries, redcurrants, smoked earth, and peppery herbs all make an appearance, and it's balanced, medium-bodied, and just impeccably put together. It will keep for 4-5 years, if not longer. ~93 Jeb Dunnuck

Broadly expansive with well-integrated tannin, this coastal appellation wine offers a wealth of dark fruit, black tea and earthiness. The oak is toasted and adds baking spice and a hint of richness, with fresh acidity brightening the palate throughout. ~92 Wine Enthusiast
