If you haven't had a chance to stock up on 2015 Brunelli, here is your last chance. While much of the vintage has already been sopped up by the market, we scored the last gasp from Lazzeretti via our unique direct import model.
Lazzeretti is a relative new-comer in Brunello, with production starting in 2001. Marco and Julia are brother and sister who personally oversee the production and business. They make around 2,000 cases per year, as well as a small amount of Rosso, Riserva, Grappa, and extra virgin olive oil.
Our own tasting notes mirror what the critics have already written below.
This is the highest-rated and lowest priced 2015 Brunello we've offered.
A juicy red with sour-cherry and citrus aromas, as well as some tile and wet earth, following through to a full body with a pretty core of fruit, chewy tannins, and a long, fresh finish. Tight at the end. Needs time to soften. Try after 2023. ~94 James Suckling
An incredible wine from Lazzeretti, this Brunello is lively and intense with exuberant character, showing notes of hibiscus flowers and lavender along with notes reminiscent of blueberries and star anise. It possesses incredible energy with a wonderful fresh character through its full-bodied texture. It displays outstanding overall quality and a pure territorial expression which is wrapped up in velvety tannins and an incandescent finish. Balanced and harmonious, this may be the finest wine yet from Lazzeretti, even surpassing the excellent 2010. ~96 International Wine Report
Wild berry, menthol, rose and new leather aromas are front and center on this fragrant red. The linear, vibrant palate offers sour cherry, blood orange, and licorice alongside tightly wound tannins and firm acidity. Drink 2023–2028 ~92 Wine Spectator
