This wine is a captivating blend that embodies the spirit of tradition and innovation. Crafted by the renowned Argatia Winery, this wine comes from the dedication and expertise of Panagiotis Georgiadis and Dr. Haroula Spinthiropoulou, visionaries who have transformed the viticultural landscape of Macedonia, Greece.
Founded in 2000, Argatia Winery is a family-owned company rooted in the heart of Macedonia. Panagiotis Georgiadis, a specialist in collective actions within the viti-vinicultural sector, and Dr. Haroula Spinthiropoulou, an esteemed agronomist and author of "Grapevine Varieties Cultivated in Greece," joined forces to create a winery that celebrates the rich heritage of Greek viticulture. The name "Argatia" reflects a deep-seated tradition of cooperation for a common purpose, a philosophy that permeates every aspect of their winemaking process.
The vineyards of Argatia Winery are a blend of science, tradition, and love for the land. Planted in the moderately hot region of Krasna at 260 meters altitude, these vineyards benefit from a unique Mediterranean climate with continental tendencies. The soil, rich in heavy mechanical composition with a hint of calcium carbonate, provides the perfect terroir for cultivating indigenous Greek grape varieties such as Xinomavro, Negoska, Assyrtiko, Athiri, and Malagouzia.
The 2018 Haroula White is a delightful blend of Malagouzia, Assyrtiko, and Xinomavro. This wine comes from the carefully maintained Krasta (Rodochori) vineyards. The nutrient-rich soil adds to the wine's complexity, and since 1999, Argatia Winery has followed organic cultivation practices, ensuring a pure and natural experience.
The winemaking process of the 2018 Haroula White is crafted with precision. The Xinomavro (Blanc de Noir) adds delicate flavors. Assyrtiko adds a crisp and vibrant acidity. Malagouzia adds aromatic intensity. The final blend of these varietals results in a wine that is wonderfully balanced and elegant.
Malagouzia, Assyrtiko, and Xinomavro. On the nose, you'll find enticing notes of citrus blossoms, white peaches, and a hint of tropical fruit. The palate is a delightful dance of crisp acidity, lush fruit flavors, and a long, refreshing finish that beckons for another sip.
