About the Red Wine

Established in 1996, Ehret first grew and sold Bordeaux varieties to prestigious Napa wineries. Recognizing they had some high quality, in 2005 Pierre and Susan Ehret chose to start their own winery, using theirhighest quality grapes

The location of Erhret’s Bavarian Lion Vineyards is tailor-made for Bordeaux varieties. The 400 to 800 feet in elevation vineyards in Knights Valley—one of Sonoma County’s warmest AVAs—are blessed with well-drained, very gravelly, sandy loam soils. Warm, long sun-drenched growing days are counterbalanced by cool evenings.

Critically acclaimed winemaker Erin Green, who earned adouble gold and97 points in the 2021 International Women’s Wine Competition with this wine, takes that quality fruit and blends them into aharmonious stunner. The 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot blend isfull and fleshy, ready to open now (but give it the time it needs to breathe), and also cellar-worthy, able to lay down for the next 7 to 10 years, at least. BHW has the lowest priceon this award-winning wine.

Ehret Family Winery’s wines are made to evolve, just as the winery itself has evolved. Itsever-increasing sustainability initiatives, which now include certified sustainable vineyards, fish-friendly certification, and a 100% solar-powered operation, ensure that the vineyards will continue to produce the quality wines Ehret is known for.

Aging: 18 months, 52% new French Oak barrels

Tasting notes75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Petit Verdot. Concentrated red and black fruits (particularly blueberry) baking spices, smoke, and leather on the nose. Cassis, plum, cranberry, cedar, and vanilla on the full and fleshy palate, with pronounced tannins and acids to ensure the wine will evolve gracefully.
