News Flash: Cameron Parry has caught the attention of wine lovers across America. And, his hard work has been rewarded with the #4 wine in the 2019 Wine Spectator Top 100 list. This wine is the first wine he created at Groth, and it's a harbinger of things to come, particularly from some of the finest grapes in Oakville at the Groth Reserve Block.

This is a turn around and come back story for one of the grand estates in Napa. We've secured one of the lowest prices anywhere.

Winemaker Tasting notes: Intense deep garnet in the glass, this Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of sweet plum and black cherry, complemented by oak spice notes of nutmeg, anise and vanilla. A smooth entry on the palate builds quickly into lush, ripe, dark cherry and black currants, backed up with sweet oak and an excellent tannin structure. 100% new French oak, aged 22 months

Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 98%, Merlot 2%

About the Winery

Since 1981, the Groth family have owned and operated over 165 acres of prime real estate in Oakville between Highway 29 and the Silverado Trail. The winery sits across the street from Silver Oak. It is 1.4 miles from Opus One and 2 miles from Nickel & Nickel and Mondavi. Cakebread and Plumpjack are also nearby.

Today, the Dennis and Judy Groth's children are involved in managing the next generation of the winery. In 2014, Cameron Parry was installed as only the third winemaker in the history of the estate. His young, fresh, and technical insight has already raised the standard of these wines.

Reviews

Muted at first, this reserve wine shows a deft hand. A red currant tone is met by a mild grip of tannins and a soft midpalate that is lightly rich in coconut shavings and mocha. Supple and balanced in richness, it offers classic flavors of cassis and cherry wrapped in supportive oak. ~94WE

Aromas of dark berry, fresh-cut herbs, cedary oak and gravelly earth are tight and well-centered. Still raw and edgy, but nothing a year or two won't resolve. Patience required. Best from 2020 through 2033. 4,000 cases made.~93WS
