The history of Barolo and Barbaresco has lauded Piedmont as one of the premier wine regions of the world. This legendary region in the NE of Italy has much more to offer than the King and Queen of Italian wine. Amongst a wealth of riches, Barbera is Piedmont's hidden gem!
Ciabot Berton's history begins in 1876 when the family purchased one of the finest crus in La Morra, Rive. Up until the late 1950s vineyard production was an afterthought. A newfound commitment to the growth of the vineyards allowed them to bottle their first Barolo in 1961. After following 5 generations of valuable teachings combined with increased experience in meticulously managing of the vineyards, today, Ciabot Berton offers wines that are a pure expression of the unique and charming terrior of Piedmont.
Tasting Notes: 100% Barbera. Clear ruby red color with purplish highlights. A fresh, fruity nose with beautiful notes of wildflowers accompanied by a light spiciness. Tasty and full-bodied, it offers persuasive sensations of cherry and blueberry supported by crispness and tanginess.
A juicy, flavorful barbera with cherry, strawberry, and some chocolate and orange-peel highlights. It’s medium-bodied with attractive fruit and a delicious finish. ~92 James Suckling (v. 2018)
