From a 93-96pt Vintage per Galloni at Vinous Media, here is a screaming deal on a Barolo at 50% off SRP!
About the Wine
Barolo is considered the "King of Wines" and the "Wine of Kings" in Italy. To earn the name Barolo, the wines must undergo at least 38 months' aging prior to commercial release, of which 18 must be spent in barrel (the remainder in bottle). The Blue label hails from 40 year old vines. This wine is a vineyard blend which produced a ruby red wine with brick reflections. On the nose, wild cherry and dried blackberry blend with delicate wood. The palate has refined tannins with a long finish and bright acidity.
About the Winery
Adelaide began in 1817 as a group of wine growers with vineyards in the most prestigious Barolo cru’s such as Cannubi. Beautifully designed to bring modern sensibility to an age old tradition of hand crafting the Nebbiolo grape into magnificent Barolo’s, the winery is pure state of the art with underground, gravity flow capabilities.
The estate was bought 20 years ago by the Drocco family. Ambile Drocco immediately updated the estate by building a modern underground cellar, introducing a new barrel system and more than doubling the size of the vineyards. Mr. Drocco was driven by the opportunity to farm and produce world-class Barolo specifically with Nebbiolo from the Cannubi vineyard.
Ambile Drocco’s father was a vine grower in a small village not far from Barolo. After World War II, because of a weak Italian economy, Mr. Drocco chose to study mechanics in Torino. When he returned to Alba, he started the Sancassiano Bakery Equipment Company. After leading his company to great success, he was finally able to return to his lifelong dream and viticulture roots by purchasing Cascina Adelaide. Today, they own vineyards in two of the most prestigious regions in Italy, Cannubi and Preda.
Accolades and high ratings for each vintage of their award winning Barolos are commonplace.
