Domaine Poulleau Pere & Fils is one of our favorite under-the-radar producers Burgundy. This is a family that, simply put, makes great Burgundy. The Poulleau family has crafted quality Burgundy since the 1960s. Established by husband and wife Michel and Jacqueline, their son Thierry and his wife Florence have since taken the reins. Over 90% of the wine they produce is made from Pinot Noir grown throughout Burgundy across 7 different appellations, with exceptional parcels in Volnay. They’re experts at producing reds that reflect the terroir from the regions they’re grown in.

Les Mondes Rondes is a small apellation of Côte de Beaune. This elegant, light, and supple Pinot that’s moderately tannic but rich and characterful grows on these slopes. The 25-year-old vines are harvested and aged in oak casks to create a wine that reflects both the terroir and the vintage. This wine is ideal for immediate enjoyment, yet those who opt to store it for a few additional years will be rewarded for their patience.

This is the perfect entry bottle to introduce you to the region. If you have experienced Burgundy from the region, then you’ll know that while it’s under the radar, the wines are elegant and perfect for matching with lighter dishes—salmon, roast poultry, and grilled meats or soft cheeses like Reblochon or Brie.

Demand for Burgundy is soaring. Demand for exemplary Burgundy at prices like this is even more so. Given the recent rain, hail, and frosts, Burgundy is only getting more expensive. Don't miss this great-value Pinot Noir!

2022 is looking to be a great year in Burgundy. Decanter said, "Despite the (very) hot and dry season, 2022 wasn’t a typical année solaire, according to the verdicts of Burgundy’s winemakers, with quality and quantity to be found, many early-drinking options, but reds to lay down, too. Overall quality is very high for red wines. There is more concentration in 2022… even if you try to make wine for the future, they are showing quite well right now."

Aging: 1 year in oak casks.

100% Pinot Noir. Pretty ruby color with garnet reflections. Expressive nose with delicious fruitiness (cherry flesh, ripe raspberry). Fleshy, crunchy attack on the fruit.
