About the Red Wine

“One of my favorite wineries, Beau Vigne’s Vineyard sits at a high elevation in the southern Napa Valley, back Soda Canyon Road, overlooking the Pritchard Hill Gap as well as the Stagecoach Vineyard. The AVA for these wines is Atlas Peak and the soils are all volcanic origin. This winery is currently on a qualitative roll.” ~Robert Parker

A true expression of CULT Cabernet Sauvignon and all it is intended to be. First released in 2008 and is culled solely from barrels selected with complex aromatics, voluptuous texture, and purity as well as depth. This is a pure expression of climate and soil with winemaker Julien Fayard nurturing its creation.

Renowned winemaker Julien Fayard uses his expertise to produce wines that express pure, terroir-driven specificities and characteristics. Julien gained his knowledge and defined his core winemaking style from working at grand Chateaux in France such as Lafite Rothschild and Smith Haut Lafitte.

Beau Vigne flies under the radar as a “hidden gem” and small boutique winery producing only a few thousand cases a year. Fans and critics alike flock to the winery for its outstanding wines and genuine hospitality including famed critic Robert Parker who refers to Beau Vigne as “one of my favorite wineries.”

Beau Vigne’s wines are highly esteemed and cherished among some of the world’s most important winemakers, and they have achieved numerous high-accolades. Today, they are considered among Napa Valley’s most acclaimed wines.

Aging: 20 months in French oak barrels, 65% New Oak

Tasting notes: 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Demonstrates structural intensity, balance with fresh acidity, and über plush tannins all elements that make them very age-worthy but ultra-inviting. Layers of vibrant cassis, black cherry, and black currant interplay with infusions of graphite and sweet tobacco that unfold. The palate displays profound density woven with finessed tannin that transcends to a seemingly endless and intense finish.

Reviews

We find dense notes of plum jam, fennel, and unearthed blackberries. Stain textured,
with voluptuous tannins and a fleshy mouthfeel. Shaved cocoa and nutmeg, with a
nuance of black tea and sandalwood. ~94 Tasting Panel Magazine

This 2020 Cult from The Beau Vigne Collection was aged in 65% new French oak and is an intense, dark-toned, savoury red. Full-flavoured and rich, with saturated black fruits framed by firm, cedar-like tannins and a plethora of graphite and tobacco spices round out the finish and fashioned by consultant winemaker Julien Fayard. ~93 Decanter

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Cult, a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, aged in 65% new French oak, comes across as slightly smoky or toasty—it's tough to say which—with notes of caramel, cassis and blueberry. It's full-bodied but open-knit and slightly coarse, with just a hint of campfire and drying tannins on the finish. Drink it young. ~90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
