Reviews

A young red with blackberry, dark cherry and some fresh herbs, in a very good sense. Medium body, integrated tannins and a polished and attractive finish. Really pretty fruit here. Picked al-dente. Better than 2022? ~94-95 JS

The 2023 Jean Faure has turned out beautifully this year, bursting with aromas of mulberries, rose petals, iris and licorice. Medium to full-bodied,supple and fleshy, it's seamless and enveloping, with real mid-palate plenitude, supple tannins and a long, delicately minty finish. It's a blend of fully 65% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot and 5% Malbec. ~93-95 RP

An interesting blend of 65% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot, and 5% Malbec that comes from vines in the northern part of the appellation (near Cheval Blanc and Figeac), the 2023 Château Jean Faure is deep ruby/purple-hued and offers Cabernet-dominated aromatics of cassis, bright red fruits, candied violets, and spring flowers. Incredibly exotic and floral on the nose, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a fresh, focused textured, solid underlying depth and concentration, and fine tannins. It's a beautiful, elegant, seamless 2023 that will need 3-5 years of bottle age, but it's undeniably outstanding. Tasted twice. ~92-94 JD

The 2023 Jean Faure is a very distinctive Saint-Émilion driven by a high percentage of Cabernet Franc in the blend. Dense and explosive in the glass, the 2023 saturates the palate with waves of inky dark fruit, chocolate, spice, new leather and licorice. Ripeness feels a bit pushed to the limit, but finding the right time to pick Franc is rarely easy. ~91-93 AG-VM
