Wines like this Heir Apparent Cab are one of the reasons BHW exists. We started out offering wines from Napa locals who made excellent wines with top grapes from top AVAs but didn’t have productions large enough to garner much attention outside of the region. We still love to bring you these lesser-known wines because they offer a value that often can’t be beaten. And, you get a chance to experience them before others catch on. This Cab? It deserves to catch on.
Why? First of all, Winemaker Dwight Bonewell of the celebrated Grand Napa Vineyards spearheads the Heir Apparent series of Napa wines, a line of thoughtfully produced wines from Napa’s best AVAs that are hand-crafted with care and whole-hearted resolve. The goal of Heir Apparent is to craftultra-luxury winesmeant to be treasured in a wine lover’s cellar.
The Heir Apparent wines are (not yet) as well known as any of Grand Napa Vineyards, but it's as meticulously produced, yet priced slightly lower. Because it’s still under the radar, we’ve been able to secure a small number of bottles of this Chardonnay at suchsignificant savings that it will be the easiest decision you make today to add this treasure to your wine cellar.
Tasting Notes: 100% Chardonnay. The nose is intense and with notes of citrus and apricot at the fore with a very mineral background reminiscent of oyster shells. On the palate, vivid and fresh, it starts balanced and energetic. Complex flavors of citrus, peach, pear and clove play together in the glass to bring a big smile to your face! Long, mouthwatering, it is very rewarding and some of the best the mysterious Spring Mountain appellation of Napa Valley will bring to you.

Aromas of sliced lemon, green apple and thyme. Medium-bodied with bright acidity. Steady and fresh on the palate, with a lingering finish. Drink now. ~91 James Suckling
The 2021 Chardonnay Heir Apparent is a solid step up, with a subtly reductive bouquet of apple and citrus fruit as well as white flowers. Possessing medium-bodied richness, a distinct sense of minerality, and nicely integrated oak, this classy Chardonnay will drink nicely for 3-5 years. ~91 Jeb Dunnuck
