About the Wine

Chateau Marquis de Terme, according to the diaries of Thomas Jefferson, was on his list of the 16 of greatest wines he had ever tasted. 2016 is a can't miss vintage in Bordeaux with many critics drawing comparisons to the exceptional 2010 vintage. 2016 in Margaux received a vintage rating of 97 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

The story of Marquis de Terme begins in 1762, when Mademoiselle Ledoux d'Emplet married François de Peguilhan Marquis de Terme, giving her the estate that would come to bear her name as a dowry. Included in the Medoc Classification of 1855, Chateau Marquis de Terme was classified as a Fourth Great Growth. Located half a mile from Chateau Margaux which retails for $900 a bottle, the Grand Vin from Chateaux Marquis de Terme is an exceptional value and a can't miss for any Bordeaux enthusiast.

Ideally located in the heart of the Margaux appellation with heavy influences from both the Gironde estuary and the Bay of Biscay, and protected by coastal pine forests from the harsh winds creates the perfect growing conditions for their vines. Organic farming was started on a small parcel of vines with their first organic wine being the 2013 vintage. Now farming all vineyards organically and achieving organic certification in 2017.

Tasting Notes: Red Wine. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon - 33% Merlot - 7% Petit Verdot. Lucious black fruit emerges on the nose, with spiced notes with tobacco and licorice. Firm tannins and a velvet texture.
