Los Vascos is owned by the Domaines Barons de Rothschild, the owners of none other than the world-famous Château Lafite Rothschild.Lafite is a Bordeaux First Growth classified Château, and one of the most iconic, sought-after, and loved wines of all savvy wine drinkers.

Nestled in the heart of Chile's Colchagua Valley, Viña Los Vascos benefits from an ideal microclimate, positioned between the Andes and the Coastal Mountain Range. This unique location, just 200 km south of Santiago, provides the perfect conditions for viticulture. With hot, dry days and cool, wet nights, the dramatic temperature contrasts favor the slow ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, resulting in wines of remarkable elegance and depth.

The estate spans 8,800 acres, with 1,500 acres dedicated to vine cultivation. The terroir of Viña Los Vascos is diverse, featuring volcanic soils that contribute to the complexity and longevity of the wines. Here, ancient traditions harmoniously blend with modern expertise, yielding wines that are both unique and reflective of their rich heritage.

At Viña Los Vascos, the philosophy extends beyond viticulture. The estate is a vibrant ecosystem where biodiversity thrives. From olive groves producing exquisite olive oil to orchards, gardens, and even beehives, the integration of agriculture and nature is seamless. Sheep graze the pastures, providing natural fertilizer, while horses are traditionally bred and used for property surveillance.

This commitment to sustainability is evident in every aspect of the vineyard's operations. The estate is certified by the Code of Sustainability of Wines of Chile and proudly composts all plant waste. Innovative water management systems, including the use of earthworm-powered filtration, ensure that the vineyard operates in harmony with its environment.

Le Dix de Los Vascos is crafted with meticulous care, combining the rich traditions of Chile with the expertise of DBR Lafite. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from the historic El Fraile vineyard and Syrah from El Mirador. The grapes are hand-selected to ensure only the finest quality goes into each bottle.

To celebrate a decade of DBR (Lafite)’s dedication in Chile, the inaugural “grande cuvée” LE DIX was born. Le Dix de Los Vascos hails from 70-year-old vines in the terroir called “El Fraile”.

Aging: 18 months in oak barrels all from the Lafite cooperage.

90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Carmenère, 5% Syrah.Deep ruby red color. Raspberry and ripe cherry-scented nose with hints of saffron, paprika, nutmeg, black pepper, chocolate, and tobacco. A broad-shouldered wine of gorgeous personality, large volume, and elegant and balanced tannin. Enjoy it with grilled meats, hearty stews, or a selection of aged cheeses.

This is the top wine of Los Vascos with currant, wet earth, and dried mushroom. Medium to full body, very fine and silky tannins and a pretty, chewy finish. It shows austerity with finesse and seriousness. Beautiful now but needs at least two or three years to come completely together. A blend of 90% cabernet sauvignon, 5% syrah and 5% cabernet franc. Decant now to drink. ~93 James Suckling

This cooler-vintage Le Dix, which is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, is one of the best on record. Dry, lightly oaked aromas of ripe berry and cassis include a hint of vanilla. A compact palate delivers blunt-force red-berry and black currant flavors. On the finish, this simmers with modest heat as well as oak and café mocha flavors. Drink through 2026. ~93 Wine Enthusiast

~93 Tim Atkin, Master of Wine

Le Dix celebrated 10 years of Lafite in Chile back in 1996 but we only see the wine in exceptional vintages. The 2013 growing season was dry year, laid over successive warm days and cool nights, yielding a blend of 85/10/5 cabernet sauvignon, carmenère and syrah. The wine originates from 80-year-old vines located at ‘El Fraile,’ or the monk vineyard, in Colchagua. The nose is underscored by ripe, fragrant, cherry aromas laced with blackberry and leafy licorice notes. The palate is intense but finely structured mixing black olives, black fruit, white pepper, tobacco and cedar but all with refinement. As elegant as it gets for Chile and a wine that should age well.~91 Gismondi on Wine
