In the heart of Sonoma County, nestled among picturesque vineyards, lies the extraordinary Kistler Vineyards. Founded in 1978 by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler, their vision was revolutionary: To produce character Chardonnays that reflect the essence of California's diverse terroirs, and that rival the finest wines from Burgundy. It was a notion ahead of its time, and for the last four decades, they've been pursuing this dream without compromise.
In 2008, Bill Price, the longtime owner of Durell Vineyards, joined forces with Steve, ensuring Kistler Vineyards remains a family-owned venture. To lay the groundwork for the next forty years, Jason Kesner joined Steve in the cellar. Their viticultural and oenological dialogue spanned a decade, shaping the very essence of Kistler's winemaking philosophy.
