2017 Defaix Freres Les Cloux Blanc Rully Premier Cru

The Côte Chalonnaise, a distinguished wine-producing region in Burgundy, France, is home to the Rully appellation, known for its Premier Cru vineyards. Situated between the Côte de Beaune and the Mâconnais, the Côte Chalonnaise benefits from varied limestone soils and a continental climate, which contribute to its distinctive wine profile. Rully’s Premier Cru vineyards are particularly valued for their exceptional terroir, offering superior conditions for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir production.

Defaix Frères, a family-run domaine established in 1955, is located in this esteemed region. Initially focusing on Chablis, the estate has since expanded to include key sites in Rully. Managed by Hélène Jaeger-Defaix and her husband Didier, the estate represents the fourth generation of the Defaix family in viticulture. Known for their commitment to organic and sustainable practices, Defaix Frères achieved full organic certification in 2019. The winemaking approach is characterized by minimal intervention, using natural yeasts and traditional methods to emphasize the authenticity of their wines.

 100% Chardonnay.This Chardonnay-based wine exhibits a harmonious blend of fruity flavors with pronounced mineral notes. It offers a complex structure and a buttery texture, with layers of ripe fruit and subtle spice. The wine is best enjoyed slightly chilled, around 12°C, making it an excellent choice to pair with creamy Comté cheese or tangy goat cheese.
