Turley Wine Cellars is one of the most recognized brands in California and the country. Year after year, this estate produces wines that are loved by wine lovers and connoisseurs alike. They make forty-seven wines from over fifty vineyards, the vast majority of which are single vineyards designated Zinfandels, Cinsaults, and Petite Syrahs.
By focusing on old vine vineyards, in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture. All of their vineyards are either certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or in the certification process. They use all-natural yeasts in the fermentations. Turley aims to be the stewards of California’s most historic vineyards, producing distinctive wines that reflect their heritage.
Bechtoldt was planted in 1886, this Cinsault vineyard is the oldest of its kind in the country. The vines are gnarly, head-trained, and planted on their own roots. The wine is light-bodied, tart, perfumed, and extremely well-balanced.
Aging: 7 months in 100% French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: 100% Cinsault. Aromas of spiced cherry, pomegranate, peach, and light nougat. Fresh, lip-smacking medium-plus acidity and lush, silky fruit glide along the structured yet velvety palate. A unique depth and complexity that can only be found in a wine from truly ancient vines. Excellent as an aperitif alongside charcuterie.
