About the Wine

Domaine de la Galopière is an artisanal family-owned winery nestled in the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, in the picturesque village of Bligny-lès-Beaune. The story begins with Eusèbe Fournier, who started his winemaking journey in 1882. For five generations, this estate has been meticulously managed by the Fournier family, led by Gabriel Fournier and, his son Vincent Fournier. With a commitment to tradition and respect for the land, they produce exceptional Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays sourced from 27 acres of vines spread across prestigious appellations such as Meursault, Ladoix, Aloxe-Corton, Savigny-les-Beaune, Pommard, and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Pommard is a renowned wine-producing village located in the Côte de Beaune. Its greatness is due to a combination of factors like its terroir with south-facing slopes and limestone-clay soils, creating the ideal conditions for growing Pinot Noir. The resulting wines are known for their intensity, complexity, and depth of flavor, featuring rich dark fruit notes, earthy undertones, and impressive aging potential.

Pommard is home to several top wineries that produce exceptional wines like Domaine de la Pousse d'Or, Domaine de Courcel, and Domaine Comte Armand with wines that can be found for up to $200 per bottle. 2020 Domaine De La Galopiere Pommard shares terroir, quality, tradition, but not price tag !

Since 2000, the estate has embraced sustainable practices throughout its vineyards.Their meticulous care in the vineyard and the cellar is noted in every single one of their wines. Their hand-picked harvest undergoes careful sorting, ensuring only the finest berries make their way to the winery.

2020 was an outstanding year for Burgundy. Wine Advocate blessed this vintage with a 95pt review, and Wine Spectator said, it delivered "big, powerful reds; the best rival 2019 and 2016, with immediate appeal."

Aging: 12 months in oak barrels; between 10% and 20% new barrels

Tasting Notes: 100% Pinot Noir. The nose is very expressive, with a very present bouquet of aromas, with notes of honeysuckle, small red fruits, currants, and spices making up the nose of this wine. This wine is warm and hearty.
