About the Wine

The history of the Antigal winery, located in Maipú, Mendoza, dates back more than 125 years, but it was not until just over 20 years ago that this winery managed to position itself as one of the best in the country.

In 2021, Antigal winery was awarded one of the top 5 “New World Wineries of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast, who described it as a state-of-the-art, high-quality winery.”

Antigal combines the best of both worlds: Modernity with tradition. In 2000, this winery was remodeled and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The winery is organized with a gravity tank filling system, in such a way that the wine is produced with minimal intervention, eliminating the need for high-intensity pumps and presses, in order to protect the quality of the grapes.

The mastermind behind Antigal award-winning wines is Miriam Gomez, one of the most talented and recognized winemakers in all of South America. Her winemaking expertise includes working in wineries like Opus One in Napa Valley and Nieto Senetiner in Mendoza. Miriam works hand in hand with the talented agricultural engineer, Juan Arsac.

2015 Antigal Aduentus Mediterraneo Mendoza comes from the Antigal’s Premium line. The grapes from this spectacular blend come from high-altitude vineyards located in the luxurious Uco Valley. The perfect blend of Malbec, Tempranillo, and Syrah results in a soft, juicy, well-structured, and exciting wine.

Aging: 14 months in French and American oak barrels.

Tasting Notes40% Malbec 30% Syrah 30% Tempranillo. Bright and intense red color. On the nose, great aromatic complexity of strawberry, cherry, mint, prunes, cinnamon, chocolate, and coffee liqueur. On the palate, excellent structure, silky tannins, and good volume. Pair this wine with beef, lamb or game meats. Also, with roasted vegetables.

Reviews

Minty blackberry aromas hint at pencil eraser and white gumdrop in front of a stacked palate with full ripeness. Oak-kissed berry flavors are toasty and savory, while this blend of Malbec, Syrah, and Tempranillo feel elastic on an absorbent yet springy finish. Drink through 2024. ~92 Wine Enthusiast
