The Best Vineyard in the World 3 Years in a Row: 2020 Zuccardi Concreto Paraje Altamira Malbec
To put it simply, Malbec has been shining brighter than ever. Argentina, praised by James Suckling as "One of the world's most exciting wine-growing countries”, has elevated Malbec to its peak form.
Meet the Zucardi Family, crowned "The Best Vineyard in the World" not once, not twice, but three times by William Reed Business Media. They're the makers of the 2020 Zuccardi Concreto Paraje Altamira Malbec, which is THE Malbec you should have in your glass right now!
Owner Sebastian's philosophy is simple: "We don’t look for perfect wines, but those that express the place, the region.” And this wine brilliantly embodies that philosophy.
Concreto Malbec comes straight from the celebrated La Consulta subregion in the Valle de Uco, where the Zuccardi family has been paving the way. This wine is made from special calcareous soils sourced from their Paraje Altamira estates. It's a 100% Malbec, aged and fermented in concrete tanks, with some of it fermented with whole clusters. The result? Nothing short of magic. Expect a burst of purple fruits, blackberry and blueberry aromas, with a touch of earthy cement and stone. Subtle floral notes & tons of elegance.
Now, let's delve into the ratings: This wine has earned an impressive double 95 points and garnered several other reviews with scores of 94 or higher. Beginning with none other than James Suckling, who characterized it as "Savory" in his 95-point review. Descorchados chimed in, saying it maintains its "tannic strength" and "grip" that adds energy and shine. And then there's Wine Advocate, praising its "poise and depth" and labeling it "one of the finest vintages for this wine so far." We wholeheartedly agree!
