One of "Chile’s Best Wine Regions": 2020 Viña San Pedro 'Sideral' Cachapoal Valley
How did you spend your (unofficial) start-of-summer weekend? Did you fire up the grill?
S-I-Z-Z-L-E! My best attempt at creating the sound of grilling! Your grill is already hopping around the backyard in anticipation of this wine, and we are happily dancing in our desk chairs because we are stacking this one high in our own houses and can’t wait to hear what you paired it with. (your mouth started watering, didn’t it?)
Viña San Pedro is one of Chile’s flagship wineries. Its 2020 Sideral is the type of magical blend that the Cachapoal Valley region, nestled at the foot of the majestic Andes Mountain Range, does so well. In Latin, “sidralis” means constellation. The wine’s name embodies the perfect harmony of each grape and their flawless combination into a blend of exceptional quality.
This Chilean take on a Bordeaux blend is Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah/Petit Verdot/Carmenere/Cabernet Franc. The grapes are grown in volcanic soils. As a result, what pours from the bottle is juicy and fresh and it also has well-rounded and structured tannins with a long velvety finish.
James Suckling recognized Sideral as one of the “100 Best Chilean Wines,” bringing more attention to this wine that’s a benchmark of Chilean viticulture in the world.
