As the name implies, this wine is a tribute to the 1879 vintage, an iconic year for this French region. But guess what? So was the 2020. It was awarded 94 points by Vinous Media who said it was "characterized by a solid structure, aromatic complexity and a remarkable sense of harmony."
Crous St Martin harmoniously blended 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre. They take great pains to ensure each variety is harvested exactly when it should be, so the Syrah comes first, the Grenache comes next. Finally, when the Mourvèdre comes off the vine, it’s perfectly mature and ready to join the others. The result is a wine that’s silky and elegant, full of the jammy fruits of Grenache and herbaceousness and spice coming from the Syrah and Mourvèdre.
This wine is one of the best-value CdPs we've come across in quite some time. This is for the one who truly appreciates a fantastic Grenache blend from the region that masters it.
