2x 93pt 1er Cru Burgundy: 2019 Domaine du Cellier aux Moines 'Clos du Cellier aux Moines' 1er Cru Givry

One of my favorite wines we offered last year came from a Premier Cru red Burgundy from Domaine du Cellier aux Monies. This Domaine is run by former LVMH CEO Philippe Pascal, who once managed the world's most prestigious portfolio of luxury brands (Krug, Veuve Clicquot, Louis Vitton, Bulgari, etc.). Today we're offering the 2019 vintage of this stunning wine.

Pascal left behind millions (if not billions of dollars) by stepping down from his position at LVMH to pursue his dream. Lucky for us that dream involved wine. Don't just take my word for it, let his double 93-point 2019 Domaine du Cellier aux Moines 'Clos du Cellier aux Moines' 1er Cru Givry do the talking.

You might be wondering who Pascal has put in charge of winemaking at this remarkable Domaine. His name is Guillaume Marko and he's set to become one of Burgundy’s brightest young stars. Marko's winemaking is magical; aromas of black and white pepper, fresh red berries, and licorice will transport you to another dimension of wine perception.

Marko has one of the most impressive resumes in his young career having worked at Frederic Magnien, Arnoux-Lachaux, along with an apprenticeship at Domaine de la Romanee Conti (yes, the estate that produces the most expensive and sought after Pinot Noirs in the world).

Robert Parker calls this wine "the finest Clos du Cellier Aux Moines the Domaine has produced to date." It's no surprise since it's coming from one of Burgundy's most outstanding vintages of the last century. It's the vintage that James Suckling said, "hits the bullseye" and Rare Wine Invest said it's "the best vintage since 1865." If you're a wine lover, 2019 is a Burgundian vintage you want to get well acquainted with.

Oh, and did I tell you that this wine comes from the best vineyard in all of Givry? It is. The Cistercian Monks (who are famous for identifying Burgundy's greatest terroirs in the 12th century) built their monastery right next to this parcel. Why? Because it is the best single-vineyard in all of Givry.

Philippe has miraculously transformed a historic building (built by the Cistercian Monks in the 12th Century) into a start-of-the-art Domaine that's quickly ascending into the upper echelon of Burgundian greats. How? By endlessly searching for the perfect combination of terroir, history, and production team. Be the first to indulge in a wine from a future Burgundian legend!
