About the Wine

“One wine that shines particularly bright in the Veneto is the mighty Amarone, where “it is king,” made from only the best varietals in the region.” ~ Robert Parker.

Amarone della Valpolicella is a wine like no other. And when it comes to producing this outstanding wine, Azienda Agricola Marion is at the top of its game.

Antonio Galloni from Vinous Media said “The hottest winery in Veneto? Well, there are several. But one of them is without question Marion. …I can’t imagine anyone who doesn’t love wine who wouldn’t want to drink any of their wines.”

Marion winery is located in the east of Verona, in the virgin valley of Marcellise. This family estate is owned by Stefano Campedelli and his wife Nicoletta.

Marion farm's previous owners used to plant and harvest large yields of grapes. It was until Stefano came into the scene that he changed this farm’s core business and started building a top-quality vineyard and winery.

In 1993, Stefano met legendary winemaker,Celestino Gaspari, and he introduced Stefano to Giuseppe Quintarelli’s ex-cellar master. It was under their guidance and direction that Marion winery was born as we know it today: An extremely high-quality Amarone producer.

This red blend from the Veneto region is one of the most unique and sought-after wine styles in the entire world. The process to produce this wine is complicated and delicate, which makes it a wine of impressive reputation. The grapes are dehydrated after being harvested, to later be fermented, and this is reflected in powerful, deep, and luscious wines! And just like James Suckling stated: "Amarone is a wine to drink with a lot of contemplation."

Aging: 36 months in Slovanian oak barrels.

Reviews

Masses of black cherry, woodland herbs, crushed rocks, mocha and hints of ground ginger create an enthralling bouquet as the 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella opens in the glass. There are depths of dark textural fruits and spices, yet what is most impressive are the vibrant acids and saline-mineral tones that create seductive contrast, as this comes across as amazingly juicy and fresh. There’s not a hard edge in sight, as it tapers off long and lightly structured, yet impossibly finessed. Wow. The 2017 is an Amarone that dreams of being a Pinot Noir.” ~94 Points, Vinous Media.
