Crozes-Hermitage is a renowned wine appellation located in the northern part of the Rhône Valley in France. It is one of the largest appellations in the northern Rhône, known for producing exceptional red and white wines. The region is specifically situated on the left bank of the Rhône River, surrounding the esteemed Hermitage hill.

Crozes-Hermitage wines are generally considered approachable and more affordable compared to the prestigious wines of neighboring Hermitage. However, this appellation has gained recognition for producing high-quality wines that reflect the characteristics of the northern Rhône Valley.

Aging: 12 months in French oak barrels.

100% Syrah. A vibrant, deep cherry red color. Its bouquet entices with delightful scents of small red fruits, accompanied by a hint of blackcurrant. On the palate, this wine delivers a remarkably smooth and rounded experience, showcasing the captivating flavors of red fruits, including cherry and raspberry.

Beautiful notes of spiced red and black fruits, incense, graphite, and mint emerge from the 2018 Crozes-Hermitage La Matinière, which is supple and seamless on the palate, with beautiful tannins. I love the balance here, and this forward, charming, sexy Crozes shows the style of the vintage perfectly. ~92 Jeb Dunnuck

Pure, racy, sleek version, with bitter cherry and red currant fruit lined with chalky tannins and backed by savory and white pepper notes on the finish. Drink now through 2027. 7,500 cases made, 2,000 cases imported. ~91 Wine Spectator

Toasted brioche, vanilla and dill accent lip-smacking blackberry and black-currant flavors in this fruity but brightly balanced red. Concentrated in fruit but anchored by a zesty spine of acidity and soft, furry tannins, the juicy, fruit-forward red is likely to show best now through 2028. ~90 Wine Enthusiast
