What happens when you take one of the Napa Valley's most esteemed winemakers and hand them one of France's most esteemed grapes? You get a killer wine, inspired by one of the most prestigious terroirs in the world. Le Barrettage is somewhat of a portmanteau of Heidi Barret's last name and Hermitage, why? because this wine is made in the image of Hermitage seen through the lens of Heidi Barret. With a limited production and nearly nine years of age, this wine is only available in the smallest of quantities, don't miss out on this truly epic bottle.

The echoing of Heidi's name will send chills down the arms of the most esteemed Napa wine connoisseurs. Barrett has produced wine for some of the most prestigious Napa Valley Estates, including Screaming Eagle & Dalla Valle. She's produced a variety of 100 point wines and set a record for the highest price ever paid for a single bottle of wine. Heidi is undoubtedly seen as one of Napa's elite winemakers whose bottles consistently retail in triple and quadruple digits. Getting your hands on a Heidi Barrett wine under $100 a bottle is a near-impossible feat and borderline outrageous, that's what makes this wine so special. Heidi's talents are sure to impress and at this price point, it's a no-brainer.

Red Wine. The wine has a very deep ruby color with aromas of black plums, pomegranate, spice, and smoked duck. It is fully ripe and concentrated. The flavors are intense and mouth-filling matching the aromas. Nice layering and a big ripe expression of this gorgeous variety.

The 2010 Le Barrettage (Syrah) is juicy, exuberant, and drop-dead gorgeous. Black cherry, plum, licorice, menthol, and sweet spices jump from the glass in an exuberant, fruit-driven Syrah loaded with personality. The 2010 is juicy, expressive, and radiant throughout. The 2010 is Syrah with a drop of Petite Sirah. ~93 Antonio Galloni

The two most serious wines include the 2010 Le Barrettage, which is a combination of Heidi’s last name and The Rhone Valley Hermitage. Made primarily from Syrah, it possesses a dense ruby/purple color as well as a big, sweet nose of blackberries, licorice, spring flowers, and camphor, good balance and richness, and a heady finish. It should drink well for 7-8 years. ~91 Wine Advocate
