Red Mountain is certainly an exotic area. A terroir that is a complete paradise for the vine, privileged climate that has very marked temperatures between day and night, and more hours of sunlight than in any other region of the Columbia Valley.

Tasting Notes: 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot. Fresh and expressive, where currants and violets are apparent right away. Black cherries thyme, cracked pepper, and sage add to its complexity. Mouthwatering ripe tannins, structured, and balanced. The finish is long and beautiful. Pair this wine with steak, grilled lamb or grilled portobello.
It is clear that the Counterpart bottling and the Upchurch Vineyard Cabernet are of the same pedigree and are cut from the same cloth. Blended with 9% Merlot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Upchurch Vineyard explodes out of the glass with energy, poise and power. Dusty red and black fruit help weave the tapestry of aromas with expressions of cinnamon and vanilla with rocky minerality and bitter dark chocolate essence. Full-bodied and showing a perfectly balanced mid-palate, the wine offers ripe, juicy fruit expressions laced with seductive oak tones and lifting tannins. The wine shows elegance, precision and focus on the persistent and lush finish. The wine spent 18 months in 100% new Taransaud and Orion French oak barrels. Absolutely stunning! 5,400 bottles produced. ~96 Robert Parker.
Full ruby-red. Deep, musky scents of cassis, dark chocolate, mocha, licorice and tobacco leaf; showing little of the greenness of the Counterpart Red Wine. Dense, plush and deep; really packed with currant and spicy oak flavor. This very suave, concentrated Cabernet stands out for its energy and inner-mouth lift. Finishes savory and ripely tannic, with terrific building length and lift. This beauty has the balance and stuffing for a graceful evolution in bottle but it's balanced from the start. ~94VM
