About the Wine

If you are an adventurous wine lover, always looking for new regions and styles and you just can’t get enough of trying new and different wines, 2016 L'Avenir 'Provenance' Chenin Blanc Stellenbosch South Africa is for you!The 2016 'Provenance' Chenin Blanc is an exciting wine, fresh and fruity with beautiful acidity and captivating elegance. It is produced from the best vineyards in L’Avenir.

Stellenbosch, located east of Cape Town in South Africa, is one of the oldest and most important regions in the entire country. The first record of planted vines dates back more than 300 years!

L’Avenir was one of the first wine-producing estates in the Stellenbosch region. Thanks to its South African-style wines with a French touch, L’Avenir has become one of the most recognized and admired wineries in the entire country and worldwide.

L’Avenir was acquired by Mark Wiehe, a successful London businessman in 1992. Mark was focused on increasing the quality of the estate and changing it to a boutique winery concept. Thanks to all his passion and hard work, the estate managed to gain recognition with its Pinotage and Chenin Blanc labels. In 2005, it became the property of the prestigious Chablis group, Chablisien Michel Laroche, the same owners of the renowned French vineyard group, AdVini.

Dirk Coetzee, born and raised in Stellenbosch, is the current winemaker at L’Avenir. A young anarchist who has managed to revolutionize the vineyards and winemaking of L’Avenir, creating wines full of life. He created the L ’Avenir Single Block label, which is a wine made from the best barrels produced from Pinotage grapes.

Chenin Blanc is South Africa’s (and Dirk’s) darling. Dirk, has Chenin Blanc tattooed on his heart, he is a lover and defender of the old vines of this variety, with which he produces his beloved wines.

L’Avenir lives up to its name, which translated from French means “The Future”. The estate began to collaborate with the Pebbles Project, a project in which looks to the future of children, providing them with the means and resources to study.

Tasting Notes: 100% Chenin Blanc. Straw yellow with a beautiful clarity. Intense aromas of white peach and melon, accented by subtle notes of honey and toasted almonds. Medium-bodied, crisp acidity. Complex and elegant. Pair this wine with grilled fish and seafood!
