Vieux Chantecaille is the property of the famous Bordeaux family, Moze Berthon, the same owners as Chateau Maillet., located less than 100m away from the recognized Château Le Bon Pasteur, and just over 1 mile from world-renowned Château Cheval Blanc. If you know how well regarded those estates are and the prices those wineries charge, you have an idea of the ideal terroir that Chantecaille enjoys and will be enticed by our price.

This long-historied Bordeaux family has been producing wine since 1820, and today, the family estate is being led by the 7th generation, Patrick Moze-Berthon, and his son. This family-owned estate has vineyards located in some of the best areas of Pomerol and Saint Emilion.

In 2009, the Moze-Berthon family decided to incorporate Hubert de Bouard of Chateau Angelus as their wine consultant. Heled with the complete renovating of the cellar.

It's not easy to find this level of quality from a Saint Emilion, -from a vineyard that's located 4 minutes away from one of the best Châteaux in the world, (Cheval Blanc)- at this amazing value.

2020 Vieux Chantecaille Saint Emilion is an extremely high-quality wine at a ridiculous price and one of our best-value Saint Emilion ever!

2020 was an exceptional vintage that was awarded 98 points by Vinous Media, who said, “An exceptional vintage for Bordeaux, certainly the best in the 2018-2020 trilogy. Quality is exceptionally high among the great wines of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol.”

Aging: 12 months in French new oak barrels.

80 % Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. An intense cherry color, notes of truffles, and red fruit like cherries, strawberries, and figs. Subtle touches of vanilla and chocolate. A wonderful tannic structure. This is an extremely elegant wine.

An attractive red with blackberry, dark chocolate, and walnut character. It’s medium-bodied with firm, fine tannins. Chewy at the end. ~91-92 James Suckling.

~90 Tim Atkin.
