About the Wine

DUORUM Wines started in January 2007 as an expression of wishes of João Portugal Ramos and José Maria Soares Franco wishes to join their activities as professional winemakers in one wine production project from Douro region, with unique characteristics and an international dimension. The Duo are both leading winemakers in Duoro and Alentejo.

This wine is a field blend from 100+ year old vines farmed on steep cliffs overlooking the Duoro river. 

Maceration is at low temperature with robotized treading in stainless steel “laggares” (troughs). Pumping over and “delestage” processes are then started in order to obtain the greatest extraction possible followed by a long post-fermentative maceration.
Ageing: In 225 and 300 litres French oak barrels for 18 months, 70% ages in new oak barrels and 30% in second and third year barrels.

Blend: 45% Touriga Nacional, 45% Touriga Franca, 5% Tinta Roriz, 5%Sousão

The old vine vineyard gives all the structure and concentration to this rich wine. It is dense, tightly structured with mineral and fruit tannins. There is a ripe juicy background of plum jelly and acidity. It is a wine that is still developing, so wait until 2017. ~93WE
