Perched atop Pomerol's plateau, Enclos Tourmaline captures the essence of diversity. With three distinct parcels contributing to its blend, each sip unveils a mosaic of flavors, echoing the richness of Pomerol's soils.
Crafted in limited quantities, Enclos Tourmaline is a collector's gem. Its scarcity, with fewer than 1,000 bottles in its debut vintage, adds allure to its already esteemed reputation.
Renovated in 2016, the cellar offers a captivating view of Pomerol's legendary vineyards. It's a sanctuary where tradition and innovation converge, reflecting the essence of Enclos Tourmaline's winemaking philosophy.
Rooted in Pomerol's terroir, Enclos Tourmaline thrives on three exceptional parcels. From Blue Clay finesse to Gravel's depth, each parcel contributes to the wine's complexity and character.
In 2012, the estate changed hands once again, this time to the visionary Peter Kwok. Peter, born in Vietnam, was for many years a renowned banker and finance expert in China. He arrived and was established in France due to his love and passion for this culture and brought his children with him.
Peter managed to see his great love for France materialize in the form of a 750ml bottle. He believes that with a combination of excellent terroir, the right equipment, the best workers, and tons of patience, an exceptional wine can be made.
Vignobles K is a family business established in 2014 is formed by 7 vineyards located in some of the best Bordeaux appellations including La Patache in Pomerol, Chateau Tour Saint Christophe, Chateau Haut Brisson in St. Emilion, and Chateau Enclos de Viaud in the Lalande de Pomerol appellation.
100% Merlot. Enclos Tourmaline has a very deep, almost black colour. In consistence with the colour the wine is powerful and concentrated but of great purity. Nose of strawberry jam, black cherry, and blackcurrant mixed with spices and light notes of liquorice. After circular movement of the glass, aromas of flowers as violet come mingle with this palette of fruits. Harmony and elegance. In the mouth the structure is both fresh and complex. The attack is velvety with a certain sweetness. The already delicate tannins are gradually implemented to become straight and silky. The long finish is greedy and creamy, signature of the great wines of Pomerol.
A solid, tight red with blackberries, black olives and hints of brown sugar and walnuts. Full and tight with fine, persistent tannins. Tight and focused. ~96-97 James Suckling
What could end up being a real superstar in the vintage, the tiny production 2020 Enclos Tourmaline is 100% Merlot, from clay soils, that’s still resting in 100% new French oak. It boasts a rich, powerful, full-bodied style that carries lots of minerality as well as structure to go with ample darker berry and cassis-like fruit, notes of camphor, toasted spice, incense, plenty of background oak, and building tannins. It’s a beautiful wine, but it’s not for those seeking instant gratification. Give bottles 4-5 years at a minimum, and it should keep for 20+. ~94-96+ Jeb Dunnuck
The 2020 Enclos Tourmaline is made from 100% Merlot, harvested on the 16th of September, aging in 100% new French oak barriques. It weighs in with an alcohol of 14.7% and a pH of 3.67. Revealing a very deep purple-black color, it has a profound nose of blackberry pie, blueberry compote and plum preserves, with underlying suggestions of licorice, espresso, black olives and crushed rocks. The rich, full-bodied palate is jam-packed with fragrant black fruit preserves, framed by velvety tannins and a fantastic line of freshness, finishing with great length and wonderful purity. Enclos Tourmaline comes from the lieu-dit Clinet, close to La Fleur-Pétrus and Trotanoy. In 2020, it is anticipated that 2,400 bottles will be made. ~94-96 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
