Their vineyards are distributed throughout 5 different regions around Sicily:Menfi, Etna, Vittoria, Noto, and Capo Milazzo, resulting in an incredibly interesting wine portfolio: Different soils, different climates, different grapes, different (and incredible) wines! And if that wasn't enough,the family also owns a hotel and a restaurant in Menfi and Palermo.

For Planeta, sustainability is of the utmost importance, winemaking practices and viticulture are done in accordance with the environment and society. Baronia is considered a symbol of the sustainable viticulture of Planeta’s Winery.

La Segreta, named after the woods surrounding the Ulmo vineyards, has always been crafted exclusively from the Planeta family’s estate vineyards, cultivated sustainably and organically. 

 50% Nero d’Avola, 25% Merlot, 20% Syrah, 5% Cabernet Franc. Intense and vivid ruby red colour. On the nose aromas of currants and mulberries with a final spicy and minty note. In the mouth the wine demonstrates its fine personality with flavours of ripe wild fruit, balanced by a full and grassy taste in a very pleasant way. The tannins are soft and well smoothed thus conferring a very versatile character to this wine.

This has aromas of dried herbs, bark, dark berries, ash and plum stones. Well-structured with firm, fine tannins. Dark ash and mineral character. Sustainable. Drink or hold. ~91 James Suckling

The nose of this wine alternates between smoky, spicy and sweet with red pepper, grilled meat, hibiscus and strawberries. Red berries on the palate enjoy the contrast of more pepper and ripe tomatoes. Tightly coiled tannins and vibrant acid keep tension high. ~91 Wine Enthusiast
