About the Wine

When it comes to high-quality Napa wines, Rudd Estate is at the top of its game. This estate, which was founded only 30 years ago, has already gained fame and recognition worldwide and achieved cult status.

Located in Oakville, or as Wine Spectator called it the filet mignon of Napa Valley Cabernet production,”this family-owned winery is managed by Leslie Rudd’s daughter, Samantha Rudd. Samantha is a strong and determined winemaker whose expertise includes working in Clos Pegase Winery and Château Margaux.

She took over the family winery in 2018, and since then, she decided to lead the winery to organic and biodynamic viticulture. She also created Rudd’s second label, Crossroads. Samantha describes Crossroads as “a label that reflects the unique geological properties and winemaking techniques.”

This wine comes from an epic vintage. 2019 was awarded 97 points by Wine Spectator who said that "Wines are ripe and lush yet well-defined; a worthy follow-up to the benchmark 2018 vintage."

Tasting Notes: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Energetic and lively. It will fill your nose with black cherries, dark cocoa nib, and a hint of baked sweetness. With a pop of ripe plum and savory cooking herbs. A perfect combination of luscious fruit and fresh herbs is completed by the plush, velvety tannins on the finish. Balanced, structured, and unbelievably delicious!

Reviews

This wine offers outstanding quality at a fair price, juicy and inviting in raspberry and dark cherry, with approachable structure and enduring grace. Herbal and earthy, it has length and breadth on the palate, with a velvety texture and undoubtedly balance, finishing in a bite of dark chocolate. ~95 Wine Enthusiast.

A solid, direct style, with red and black currant, preserves that meld steadily into a backdrop of singed vanilla, cedar, and warm earth. Features flashes of humus and menthol, too, which provide a range. Drink now through 2032. 3,420 cases made. ~93 Wine Spectator
