Produced from 1999 as a partner to Rubicon, Inglenook’s premier white wine, Blancaneaux is a blend of three estate-grown white Rhône varieties. The Marsanne and Roussanne contribute body and minerality, while the Viognier adds an intense bouquet of tropical fruits. These varieties are grown in vineyard blocks that enjoy full morning sun but are in the full shadow of Mount St. John by mid-afternoon. Like Rubicon, Blancaneaux doesn't describe any one grape personality but speaks volumes about the Inglenook terroir that contributes to its range of nuanced flavors, dense palate, and mix of aromatic interests.

The 2018 vintage will be remembered as one with a generous crop of excellent quality. Well-timed precipitation in March and April ensured an advantageous commencement of the growing season with slow, steady initial shoot growth. Budbreak in the vineyard blocks contributing to Blancaneaux was late, ending on April 18th. Bloom was complete by early June, as moderately warm temperatures led to a desirable fruit set for all white Rhône varieties!

Aging: 7 months 66% Stainless Steel, 34% French Oak, and 21% New Oak

White Wine. 38% Viognier, 38% Marsanne, and 24% Roussanne. The 2018 Blancaneaux shows complex aromas of white peach, clover honey, and lychee fruit. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, refreshing, and well-balanced, building to a long, supple finish with lingering notes of minerality and lemon zest.

This Rhone-blend white shows minerality and stone character to the lemon-rind and green-apple aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, fluid, and delicious. Creamy texture. Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne. Drink now. ~93 James Suckling

The winery's signature white blends 38% Viognier, 38% Marsanne, and 24% Roussanne into a cohesive whole, aging the wine in stainless steel as well as French oak. Bright layers of lemon peel and tangerine meet grippy acidity and length, with an appealing creaminess to the finish. ~93 Wine Enthusiast
