To Kalon is a cult classic, Decanter called it “a vineyard regarded as California’s crown jewel thanks to its enduring renown for producing world-class, top-scoring Cabernet Sauvignon.”

To Kalon dates back to 1860, when H.W Crabb planted his first vines that would soon grow into thick high-quality grapes. The vineyard, also known as “Napa’s most famous vineyard”is located between the sheltering Vaca and Mayacamas mountain ranges in Napa Valley. Its outstanding terroir made up of well-drained, gravelly soils, along with the ideal weather, sun, wind, and fog is the perfect combination to deliver strong, complex grapes. These optimal conditions and the expert hands of Andy Erickson have resulted in outstanding, wines of the highest quality.

Andy Erickson is a Rockstar in the world of wine. His journey includes working in some of the most outstanding terroirs in the world, like Mendoza, and in the USA in Napa Valley, Sonoma, where he worked with Paul Hobbs, John Kongsgaard, and Michel Rolland. He’s also the man behind Screaming Eagle wines.

Andy says, “To kalon vineyard excites me. You can’t see the diversity from the surface, but underneath, it’s a patchwork of sites, each with its own unique expression.”

To Kalon Vineyard Company’s “Eliza’s” is an exciting blend of Cab Franc and Cab Sauvignon, the two grapes that “best showcase the strength and spirit of this historic site at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains.”

2021 is looking to be one of the vintages of the decade. Vinous Media blessed this year with a 95-98 point score, and said: "Two thousand twenty-one is a fabulous vintage in Napa Valley. That’s the good news. The not so good news is that production is down sharply, 30-50% in many cases. The wines have tremendous energy as well as finesse. In tasting, the 2021s show some of the savory intensity of other drought vintages – 2013 and 2014 come to mind – but with more aromatic explosiveness and greater inner sweetness."

This is a complex, bold, exciting wine that drinks amazing now, but if you’re patient enough to cellar it for one decade or more, it will completely reward you!

60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. This blend produces one of the most compelling examples of Napa Valley wine, with the Cabernet Franc bringing exotic spice notes and floral aromas, and the Cabernet Sauvignon providing weight, structure, and a deep, rich, black fruit character. The combination is rare and uniquely To Kalon—a wine that is effusive and exuberant now, but one that will age for decades to come.

Fresh, structured but rather light in feel for a full-bodied blend of 60% cabernet franc and 40% cabernet sauvignon. Good acidity matches moderate tannins in this almost gentle, delicious but age-worthy wine. Red and black fruit, mint and tobacco accents lead to a luxurious, lingering finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2028. ~98 James Suckling

This red shows lovely range, as sweet tobacco, dried violet and warm paving stone hints all smolder underneath a vivid, pure and polished core of black currant and black cherry puree. Still youthfully taut, as the structure is prominent, this just requires patience to unwind fully. When it does, this will feel really suave.Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2027 through 2045. 475 cases made. ~96 Wine Spectator
