Wine Spectator said,“Franciacorta has the texture of Champagne and the freshness of Prosecco.”
Franciacorta is an Italian sparkling wine appellation nestled at the foot of the Alps. This region is known to produce some of the most exciting sparkling wines in the country, using the classic (Champenoise) method. Decanter said, “This area of northern Italy is considered one of the best resources for quality, traditional-method sparkling wines in the country.”
Monzio Compagnoni is one of the best-known Franciacorta producers. This winery, located in Adro, started in 1989 when Marcello Monzio Compagnoni decided to build a winery on the family’s farm. After 34 years, Marcello continues at the helm of the winemaking team, with legend Donato Lanati as the wine consultant. Dr. Donato Lanati is a world-class winemaker who has won several recognitions from major critics. Both work with a mutual goal in mind: To produce high-quality wines that perfectly express the greatness of the terroir.
This estate is composed of 34 acres planted with high-quality Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, which is used for the Franciacorta blend, and the other 7 acres planted with Merlot, Cab Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, and Moscato.
Aging: Champenoise Method
Tasting Notes: 85% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Nero. It has a lively mousse and fine bubbles. The aroma blends floral notes with hints of bread crust, peach, and apple. On the palate, it delivers refreshing minerality and acidity, with a touch of vanilla from the apple.
