About the Wine

2019 in Brunello di Montalcino is looking to be one of the greatest vintages of recent years. Decanter says: ‘The strength of the vintage is that the wines will be enjoyable at any stage along the way, given the quality in 2019, Brunello enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice.”and referred to it as “A Superb Vintage!” Stock up on this amazing vintage today!

La Fiorita is owned by American-born Natalie Oliveros whose Calabrese Nonna exposed her at an early age to basement winemaking. Following a successful career in adult entertainment, she became owner of this winery. In the early 2000s, her basement training came in handy when she began collaborating with the winery’s then-co-owner Roberto Cipreso on a series of Italian wines. She’s now the primary owner of La Fiorita and, along with the talented winemaker Vincenzo Pirrone, is raising the already respected reputation and quality of La Fiorita, shifting the vineyards toward organic viticulture and modernizing the cellars with the addition of a two-level gravity-fed cantina.

La Fiorita does not craft this iconic Brunello every year, this wine is only produced on the TOP vintages (like 2019). This stunning wine is produced from the best grapes from just one of the winery’s four vineyards calledPian Bossolino.

Aging: 24 months in Slovenian oak cask, 4 months in steel before bottling, 18th months in the bottle before release.

Tasting Notes100% Sangiovese. Cherry, leather, menthol, and tobacco on the nose. Ripe fruits on the palate, medium-bodied, velvety tannins, and fresh acidity.

Reviews

Strawberry, raspberry and cherry aromas and flavors are beautifully displayed in this charming version, with loam, tobacco and herbs adding detail while the aftertaste goes on and on. Shows balance and formidable length. ~95 Wine Spectator

2019 was a significant year for La Fiorita. It is the first vintage made in the estate’s new cellar as well as the inaugural release with organic certification for its vineyards. Progress at this estate is notable. Despite a pale garnet hue, aromas are expressive and vivacious. Garden herbs, Mediterranean shrub, rose and orange potpourri soar from the glass. The palate echoes, offering up sweet, lush red berries infused with mint and crushed dried flowers. Lovely liveliness. A substantial core of firm yet supple tannins will give some paced ageing to this. ~93 Decanter

Sour-cherry, peach and floral aromas follow through to a medium body with fine tannins and a refined texture. Fresh and vivid energy. Not the richest wine, but shows tension and balance. Graphite at the end. ~93 James Suckling

With cherrywood or cedar, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has a savory, almost spicy side that follows garden herb, cola, dark cherry, plum and sweet cherry. The fruit is slightly baked or cooked with hints of road paving or smoky tar. This is a concentrated wine for sure, with fruit sourced from three sites: Collesorbo, Pian Bossolino and Giardinello. Production is 32,000 bottles.Drying tannins want a steak and polenta dinner. ~93 Wine Advocate

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino pulls the taster down to earth with a dusty blend of flowery underbrush and crushed wild berries lifted by camphor hints. It’s silky and round with sweet spice and plush red and blue fruits that flow across a stream of vibrant acidity.A web of fine tannins tugs at the palate as the 2019 tapers off with a licorice tinge and a orange concentration that curls the tongue. The 2019 turns the pleasure dial to the max yet remains painfully young. ~92 Vinous
