"We believe it to be a sleeping beauty of a property" were the words proclaimed by Prince Robert of Luxembourg, the President of Haut-Brion, when they purchased the property in 2011. He was right. Under new guidance the Chateau has become a hidden treasure that delivers well above its modest price tag!
Saint-Emilion de Quintus treads softly in the saturated market that surrounds the Bordeaux wine world. Only rewarding those who are in the know. At the time of the purchase, Prince Robert declared, "Our family company looks forward to returning this great estate to its former glory." It didn't take them long and once this wine blesses your palate, you won't be able to resist! We recommend bringing home at least 6 bottles and tasting one every 2-4 months if you can wait that long...
Tasting Notes: 88.8% Merlot and 11.2% Cabernet Franc. Dark red color. The nose is fresh, fruity, and understated promising a real treat for the taste buds. Starts out very pleasant on the palate, with no hardness whatsoever, becoming smooth and delicious with a medium-long finish.
This is the third wine of the Quintus estate. Composed of 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Saint-Émilion de Quintus has a deep garnet-purple color and is a little closed, with a broody nose of earth-inspired notions—tilled black soil, fungi, and tar—over a core of youthful blackberries and black plums scents plus wafts of fried herbs and fallen leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers lovely freshness with a soft texture and plenty of savoriness among the black fruit, finishing with an herbal lift. ~91 Wine Advocate
This is very bright and fruity with blackberry and blueberry character. Medium body. Primary character. ~91 James Suckling
