About the Wine

The Borgogno family managed a restaurant in the center of Barolo for 5 generations, during that time the family vineyard was vinified exclusively for use at the restaurant. In the 1980s the restaurant closed, part of the vineyard was sold, with the exception of “Vignane”, which was rented. In 2015, the contract with those who were renting the “Vignane” area, was terminated. Riccardo Borgogno, at the age of 70, took it back and started to cultivate it himself. Thanks to the cellar of his cousin, Federico Scarzello, he restarted the production of his Barolo Vignane after almost 40 years.

The Nebbiolo grapes are destemmed and pressed. Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with maceration of 30 days on the skin. Followed by malolactic fermentation in steel tanks. Then aged for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. Following this, it is lightly filtered and then bottled. Finally, the wine ages in bottles for another 12 months prior to its release.

Aging: 24 Months in Large Slavonian Oak Barrels

Tasting notes: 100% Nebbiolo. Compact color of deep garnet. A noble nose of blackberry, cherry, cinnamon, and spices. Beautiful, lively, large, and elegant mouth. Majestic and pounding tannins, defined freshness, superb depth. Well-dosed wood that leaves elegance and finesse.
