Beaujolais is one of the best value-driven wine regions in the world! Located just south of Burgundy, Beaujolais produces fantastic fruit-driven wines that are unpretentious and typically meant to be enjoyed in their youth. Chénas is the smallest Cru in Beaujolais. However, the wines coming from this region are everything but small.

The Beaujolais resurgence is being led in a big part by women winery owners and winemakers. One of those women is Anita Kuhnel who owns Domaine Anita. A 2021 regional report by James Suckling called her out specifically. Noting that she founded the Domaine in 2015, the report comments that “her twin obsessions with quality and strictly vinifying each plot of vineyard separately earned her two 95-plus ratings in our report. Her wines are concentrated and plush.”

Anita’s viticultural philosophy is one of sustainable viticulture, with minimal treatments, green harvesting, and strong canopy management. Assisted by Guy Marion, former head of winemaking at Georges Duboeuf, she produces several excellent wines, like this 2020 Domaine Anita Chenas Cuvee P'tit Co 'Les Brureaux', a wine that has been highly praised by James Suckling in its 92pt review, where he called it a " ripe and succulent, but also so lively" And Wine Enthusiast described it as a wine with "concentration that contrasts with freshness." wrapping up with a 92 score.

In Suckling’s report, he noted that only 10% of the wines from the region received a score of 95 or better. That makes this wine one of the top 10% wines in the entire region. Those who already are sold on the Beaujolais resurgence and those who are curious to taste what it’s all about should jump on this excellent wine that’s also a fantastic value

On top of that, 2020 was a very good vintage for Beaujolais, one that Vinous Media awarded with 90 points stating that "2020 display depth as well as juiciness, much like the best examples from 2019."

100% Gamay from 50-year-old vines. Aromas of very ripe black fruits and intensely spicy notes. It's generous and rich, combined with a round finish. Heady tannins will give this anthology cuvée a long-aging potential.

How could you resist the enveloping black aroma of this stunning Beaujolais Cru? So ripe and succulent, but also so lively. And all of this is held together by a framework of healthy tannin. Builds impressively at the crisp, dry finish, where there’s a touch of stony minerality. Drink or hold. ~92 Points, James Suckling.

Ripe tannins and a dense texture give this wine concentration that contrasts with freshness. The berry fruits and acidity are still young, bursting with energy. ~92 Points, Wine Enthusiast.
