Wine critic James Suckling said Chablis “Delivers such purity, refreshment and are just always so enjoyable,” and we agree.
Chablis is loved by wine geeks and everyday drinkers alike for its characteristic minerality and finesse. Chablis' distinct terroir is due to a unique soil type found only in Chablis, Champagne, and southern England called Kimmeridgian. An ancient soil, 180 million-year-old to be exact, made up of clay and limestone that contains fossilized oyster shells. These fossilized sea creatures are attributed to Chablis being such an excellent pairing for oysters and fresh seafood. In addition to the minerality, Chablis is known for its incredible structure and mouthwatering salinity. If you haven't had the pleasure of falling in love with Chablis yet, what are you waiting for?
Domaine De La Cote De Fasse is a family-owned winery with a rich history of winemaking excellence. Since its inception in 1991, this estate has been crafting remarkable wines that showcase the essence of the Chablis region. The 2019 Domaine De La Cote De Fasse Chablis 1er Cru Vau De Vey is the estate’s crown jewel and a wine that embodies their passion and dedication.
Winemaking runs deep in the family’s blood; their legacy dates back several generations. In fact, André Alix (great-grandfather) was recognized at the prestigious "Concours de Chablis" on August 11, 1907. Fast forward, Françoise Gagnepain and her children, Laurent and Isabelle, embarked on a new chapter in 1991, establishing their own esteemed estate.
They started with just a few acres near the picturesque village of Beine. Today, the vineyard of over 37 acres thrives on the renowned terroir of Chablis and extends into the Grand Auxerrois terroir. It is managed with sustainable viticulture (HVE Level 3 certified).
