Paul Mas stands out as one of the prominent vineyards in Languedoc. Among its various tiers of wines, Château Paul Mas represents the pinnacle of everyday luxury wine.

Welcome to the world of Luxe Rural, where everyday luxury meets the essence of the Languedoc. This is a wine that embodies the spirit of this extraordinary region, where the Mediterranean meets the mountains, and tradition blends seamlessly with innovation.

Domaines Paul Mas spans over 2100 acres of prime vineyards, enriched by an additional 3700 acres from partner vineyards. This vast landscape, nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains, offers a diverse range of terroirs that make every wine unique. The 2016 Rouge Intense is a perfect expression of this diversity, crafted from 45 different grape varieties that thrive in the region's unique climate and soils.

Jean-Claude Mas, a pioneer of the New Languedoc, channels over a century of family tradition into every bottle. Born into a winemaking family in the Languedoc, Jean-Claude's passion for wine was kindled at the age of three when he ran to his grandfather's cellar during harvest. His journey took him from studying economics to establishing himself as a winemaker of distinction, learning the art of blending from the renowned Italian winemaker Giorgio Grai, A.K.A “father of modern winemaking in Italy.”

At Domaines Paul Mas, respect for nature is paramount. With 40% of the vineyards certified organic and all 100% HVE 3 certified, the estate practices biodynamic farming to produce wines that are rich in flavor and character.

This is a wine born from the gravelly clay-limestone soils of the Hérault valley and the fossil-rich slopes leading to the Thau marshes. These vineyards benefit from a cooling climate, thanks to the Mistral and Tramontane winds, which contribute to the wine’s complexity and depth.

Aging: 10 months in French oak barrels.

Intense deep purple color with garnet red tints. Complex and perfumed aromas of violet, cocoa, roasted coffee beans, and blackberries. A well-structured and full-bodied wine, it has rich tannins and a strong fruity character.

Overlooked a couple of years ago, the 2016 Languedoc Grés de Montpellier Chateau Paul Mas Clos de Savignac has aged well. While not a blockbuster, it's a smooth, medium to full-bodied blend of 55% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre, aged 10 months in a mix of French and American oak. Black cherries dominate, framed by hints of vanilla, with notes of dried spices chiming in on the silky finish. ~90 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
