About the Wine

Vecchio Magazzino Doganale was established in 1871, in the same period as the Belle Époque. At this time, the iconic label of "Amaro Importante Jefferson" was introduced, which was a natural amaro produced using ingredients that were carefully selected from all across the Calabrian region.

The bitter was reborn thanks to Ivano Trombino when he received a suitcase full of diaries, stories, and research carried out by his grandfather during his stay in Italy. Ivano was so shocked and moved by this diary that he decided to start his journey in Calabria with some friends. Over the years, the group of friends acquired the knowledge and practices to produce a special liqueur, linked to their personalities.

The story of this Amaro dates back to when Ivano Trombinos’s grandfather and team arrived at Vecchio Magazzino Doganale, during their adventures in Itay. Here, they found a family who welcomed them. The owner, Giocondo, who was a seller of spices and some smuggled spirits, showed them his warehouse, and they discovered Giocondo's unique and magical way of preparing a drink that was the ancestor of coffee.

Giocondo blended Ethiopian coffee with toasted acorns, and it was stunningly delicious! This Amaro is inspired by Giocondo’s recipe and is the perfect divestive.

This Amaro is obtained with various botanicals: Ethiopian coffee beans blended with toasted acorns, vanilla, bitter orange, aloe, Chiana, and quassia.

Drink it at room temperature or fresh from the fridge (no freezer), this will enhance the pleasantness of the coffee combined with a subtle bitter note. An intriguing mixing in the reinterpretation of the great classics.

11-12 months of preparation and marinating time.

24% White Cane Sugar.

Tasting Notes: On the nose, you can't miss the inviting aroma of freshly roasted coffee, complemented by a touch of sweet spices in the background. A velvety texture and delightful experience, where the robust coffee flavor takes center stage and the delicate notes of vanilla make a pleasant appearance.
