Founded in 1757, Henri Abelé is one of the oldest Maisons in Champagne. It is home to an age-old “savoir-faire”; its 250-year-old heritage combined with carefully considered choices, guided by a love of champagne and the very highest standards. This is a champagne house of integrity, which has always remained true to its convictions, eschewing the fads and fashions that have come and gone in the Champagne region over the years.
Henri Abelé has been working in close partnership with “artisan-vignerons”, chosen for the quality of their work, for over 30 years. This important close collaboration contributes to the continuity of the style and excellence of the Henri Abelé champagnes. Achieving the exceptional requires patience! At Henri Abelé, the distinctiveness of its champagne making is the result of late blending at perfect maturity and very long cellar-aging - well beyond the minimum aging period required by the Champagne regulations
Made from the best crus in Champagne, Brut Traditionnel is ready to drink after three years of aging under ideal conditions, away from light and variations in temperature.
“The work carried out to make the non-vintage Brut could be compared with that of a mosaic artist. A whole host of terroirs are vinified separately, and then I select the plots that go to make up the end result. It is painstaking work, where each piece has to slot into the final picture. The reserve wines add maturity and the wines of the year bring freshness and fruit, resulting in a balanced composition.” -Franck Nicaise, Cellar Master
Tasting note: Sparkling Wine. 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier. Pale golden color with greenish highlights. Remarkably fine bubbles and a beautiful, persistent bead. Attractive and luscious, with hints of hawthorn and acacia blossoms as well as overtones of peach and apricot. Exceptional ripeness on the palate. Toasty, honey, and cinnamon flavors. This elegant cuvée has a full-bodied, generous aftertaste. Perfect for the aperitif or with a first course.
Lightly floral on the nose, featuring hints of ripe plum, toast, crunchy white peach, and lemon pith, with a zesty, minerally underpinning on the palate. A well-meshed version, offering a firm, clean-cut finish. ~91 Wine Spectator
