Born in the heart of Marlborough, this wine is the ultimate expression of te Pā—a family-owned winery with deep roots in the land. Haysley MacDonald, the visionary founder, planted his first vines at Wairau Bar back in 2003. And now, 800 years of his family's history and connection to this land have come together in a wine that’s truly special. Every bottle of Pa Road is a celebration of the soil, the ocean, and the river that have shaped this region.

Sam Bennett is the head winemaker. Sam’s approach is simple: great wine comes from respect. He respects the land. He respects the fruit. And most importantly, he respects the process. With over 20 vintages of experience, including stints in Burgundy, Tasmania, and Oregon, Sam’s winemaking is a masterclass in balance and elegance. In 2020, he was named one of the world’s top 100 winemakers. This wine? It's a prime example of why.

The 2023 Pa Road Sauvignon Blanc is packed with explosive flavors. Think citrus, melon, and passionfruit on the front, with a hint of gooseberry and delicate touches of blackcurrant and wild fennel dancing around the core. It’s bright, it’s fresh, it’s alive. And that finish? Clean, crisp, and lingering with a touch of minerality that’ll have you reaching for another sip.

100% Sauvignon Blanc.

The palate is concentrated with flavors of citrus, melon, gooseberry and passionfruit. Delicate blackcurrant and wild fennel flavors dance around the core of primary fruit. The finish is crisp and clean with hints of lingering spice and a touch of chalky minerality.

~ 93 Points & 5 Stars, Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

A lifted, varietal and herbaceous bouquet laced with scents of lemon and tropical fruits, some fresh green herbs and a light-wight wet stone mineral quality. Crisp and just dry on the palate with core fruit flavours of apple and lemon, moments of gooseberry and white pineapple. A balanced, even finish with persistent flavours. Best drinking as an aperitif or with light-weight snacks and seafood. Ideal drinking window from 2023 through end of summer 2025. ~92 Cam Douglas, Master Sommelier
