About the Wine

Littorai's philosophy revolves around crafting wines that encapsulate the uniqueness of each vineyard. They understand that the essence of a place is irreplaceable. The pursuit of low yields, careful site selection, and hands-on farming drive their winemaking journey. For Littorai, winemaking is a harmonious dance with nature, allowing the vineyard to speak its truth.

Behind Littorai's exceptional wines stand two remarkable individuals, Ted and Heidi Lemon. Their journey began with an Enology degree from the Université de Dijon and extended to prestigious wineries across the world. From Burgundy's vineyards to California's landscapes, they embraced a philosophy rooted in terroir-driven winemaking. Their legacy of finesse, balance, and dedication shines through every bottle.

In 1992, Ted and Heidi embarked on a quest to find the finest conditions for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Their passion led them to the coastal hills of Sonoma and Mendocino counties, where Littorai was born. Starting with limited resources but boundless determination, they produced their initial wines. Today, Littorai stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to the land. This cult-status winery is one of the most celebrated estates in California and the world.

Littorai's commitment goes beyond winemaking. They are pioneers of generative agriculture, a paradigm that harmonizes human existence with nature's rhythms. Recognizing humanity's role in the environment, they strive to create farms that contribute positively to their surroundings. This philosophy ushers in a new era of responsible stewardship.

Cerise Vineyard Pinot Noir is a testament to Littorai's commitment to terroir. Nestled in the heart of the Anderson Valley, this wine paints a picture of its origin. With each sip, one experiences the cool climate and unique soil composition that shape its flavors. Refined notes of red berries mingle with subtle earthy tones, creating a wine that embodies elegance and complexity.

Reviews

Rustic and red rock sort of character with tile. Dried cherry. Medium body, fine tannins that are velvety at the same time. Lovely length and beauty. Intellectual wine. Drink now. ~95 James Suckling

Medium ruby-purple in color, the 2014 Pinot Noir Cerise Vineyard has a lovely earth-dominated nose with notes of tar, black soil, underbrush and fungi over a core of mulberries, black berries and black cherries plus a hint of anise. Light to medium-bodied, it has a firm frame of grainy tannins and uplifting acidity supporting the muscular, earthy flavors, finishing chewy. 550 cases were made. ~94 Wine Advocate

The 2014 Pinot Noir Cerise Vineyard is delicate, nuanced and understated. Even so, there is plenty of underlying grip. Rose petal, cranberry, chalk and white pepper add aromatic intensity in the upper register, while the tannins give the wine its vibrancy and energy. Even with all of its obvious appeal, the 2014 is tightly wound and in need of cellaring. ~94 Vinous
