Did you know that 80% of the planet’s plants, mammals, reptiles, and frogs are unique to Australia and are found nowhere else in the world? Did you also know that Australia has some of the oldest grapevines in the world? Or that it is one of the great wine capitals in the world?
My point here is that Australia is not only known for its amazingly beautiful landscapes and their overly cute Koalas and Kangaroos, but also for its stunning, award-winning wines.
And, what says more “Aussie-wine” than Shiraz? To quote Wine Enthusiast: “This hug-in-a-glass grape has played a crucial role in cementing Australia’s global wine reputation.”
Today’s offer is the most amazing Shiraz I’ve tasted in a long time (and I taste a lot of Shiraz’s) … Straight from Aussieland, the 2018 Tarrawatta Ambervale Shiraz Eden Valley.
This wine is everything you’d expect out of a Shiraz from Barossa Valley, but greater; Wine Critic, Jeb Dunnuck described it as “Gem of a Wine”, I couldn’t have said it better!
Tarrawatta is perfection; this winery is property of the same owners as Chateau le Bon Pasteur in Pomerol and Finca Sloan in Napa Valley. They’re located right at the foot of the Barossa Mountain range, and just so you know, this region is famous for producing some of the best red wines, not only in the country but in the world.
And the cherry on top of this amazing and pretty unbelievable wine offer, is the extraordinary vintage; 2018 was an outstanding year in Barossa, it was awarded 97 points by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
This wine is deep, powerful, and vibrant. Aromas of black fruits, licorice, coffee bean, and dark chocolate oak. It holds integrity and poise, harmonized by an even acid line and most of all, by a fine, taut frame of impeccable tannins.
