Who wouldn’t want to be one of the first to pop the cork on the inaugural vintage of a new label from a storied Bordeaux property that dates back to 1720? Today is your chance to do just that.
From the iconic Haut-Médoc, Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou’s 2018 Madame de Beaucaillou is the bottle we’re talking about, and we know you’ll be talking about it, too. Coming from vineyard plots brought by the one and only Madame Eugène-Borie when she married and more recently by the acquisition of plots from Madame Fort-Pradère, this wine is a new offering and an exceptional value from an exceptional year, something that doesn’t come along often.
How remarkable is the Bordeaux 2018 vintage? Jancis Robinson christened it an exceptional year in Bordeaux, and Vinous declared the year to have outstanding wines at all levels. And, wine critic Jeb Dunnuck says of 2018, “It’s possible to find attractive, well-made, even outstanding, wines that punch well above their price points.”
The Haut-Médoc produces Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot of equal quality, and this wine has (almost) equal, complementing amounts of both. The blend? 39% Merlot and 37% Cabernet Sauvignon with 21% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The color? A seductive deep garnet. The experience? A red and black fruit beauty, balanced with silky tannins and a delightful finish.
No doubt this will be one of the Bordeaux 2018 wines that punch well above its price point, and we have it at under $35 a bottle. If you indulge in Bordeaux at any price, don’t let this wine sell out before it lands on your doorstep.
