About the Wine
In 1966, three historic German Estates joined forces and Bischofliche Weinguter Trier was born! The Estate has been a valued member of the VDP (a group of high-quality German producers) since its formation. Trier maintains a plethora of Grand Cru vineyards all along the Mosel, most notably Bernkasteler Badstube, Graacher Himmelreich, and Erdener Treppchen to name a few. Bischofliche Weinguter Trier produces world-class Riesling from top vineyard sites while maintaining traditional viticultural techniques with a sustainable approach.
The complexity of Mosel wines is reflected by nature: rugged, stony landscapes on extremely steep slate slopes, on the one hand; overgrown foliage reliefs and rolling hills, on the other hand. These opposites come into perfect harmony with a filigree Riesling. Fruity acidity and complex aromas combine to create a culinary delight. The preservation of traditional techniques coupled with sustainable viticulture and respect for nature has top priority in the production of their wines.
Tasting notes: White Wine. 100% Riesling. The wine shines with a medium gold core. On the nose, fresh fruit burst into a wonderful bouquet as green apple, melon, apricot, lime, honeysuckle, saffron, and petrol lead the way. On the palate the wine is light, mineral-driven, pleasantly dry, and a lasting full finish.
Reviews
A crush of mineral and earth tones exhilarate on the nose of this dry Riesling. Ripe, sunny grapefruit and nectarine flavors expand luxuriously on the palate, tightened by a fine stream of lime and lemon acidity. The finish is long and steely. ~90 Wine Enthusiast
